Master
your turnout
Compression tights with a built-in silicone turnout guide, tracing the full line of rotation from your hip all the way down to your feet as you move.
It doesn't just fit
your body, it teaches it.
Introducing Backalast Turnout Tights. Eighteen months of studio based R&D went into a single compression layer with targeted silicone mapping that traces the full line of rotation, from your hip to your feet. That means real-time tactile feedback as you move, so you can hold your alignment longer, build better control, and take that body awareness into every class you take.
Pelvic alignment & glute activation
Front and back compression panels support the hip flexors and glutes together, encouraging neutral pelvic alignment and a sense of lift through every movement.
Full-leg turnout support
A built-in silicone guide traces the full line of rotation from hip to feet, activating the deep rotators and encouraging a sense of outward spiral through the whole leg as you move.
Full-leg alignment & lateral support
Compression along the inner and outer thigh engages the adductors, gluteus medius and TFL, supporting leg positions, battery work, and balance.
Knee stability
Graduated compression wraps the knee with medial and lateral support, reducing strain and maintaining alignment through jumps, landings, and sustained positions.
A different standard
Most ballet tights are chosen from a catalogue. Ours were engineered, prototype by prototype, for the way a dancer actually moves.
Factory white-label, selected from a generic catalogue. Zero innovation.
12+ prototypes developed, tested and refined in-studio.
Single-layer nylon, offering cosmetic coverage only.
A compression layer bonded to a silicone support and sculpting layer.
Passive elasticity that relies on your muscle force alone.
Silicone mapping traces the full spiral of rotation from hip to feet.
Universal tube sizing, prone to bagging and gaps.
Nine sizes engineered for a tailored fit.
High-friction synthetic that can feel dry or scratchy.
An ultra-smooth finish with a sophisticated low-lustre sheen.
A second skin
Two bonded layers working as one. The inner holds and supports, the outer carries the turnout guide, so the fabric trains as you move.

Built on the legacy
of the Backalast jacket
We spent four years perfecting the Backalast Jacket, proving that the right compression can transform a dancer's posture. The Turnout Tights bring that same rigour to the lower body, engineered to activate and support every line from the hip down.

Frequently asked questions
The Backalast Turnout Tights are a compression garment built to support your ballet technique. Unlike standard tights, they have a built-in silicone guide that traces the full line of rotation from your hip down to your feet. You get real-time tactile feedback along that entire pathway, helping you find your alignment, maintain it through a full class, and build the muscle memory to carry it with you when the tights come off.
The tights don't force your legs into position. They give your body a reference point. The silicone guide traces the path your rotation should follow, from the hip joint down through the knee and ankle, and the compression creates a proprioceptive connection with the muscles along that pathway. That awareness builds over time. Most wearers find they start correcting their own alignment between combinations, not just when they think about it.
You feel something the moment you put them on. The compression and silicone guide create an immediate awareness of where your leg sits in space and whether your rotation follows the full line from hip to foot. The longer benefit takes a few weeks of consistent class wear. That is when the proprioceptive feedback starts to become instinct, and you find yourself correcting your alignment without consciously thinking about it.
Grab a soft tape measure and keep relaxed, the tights compress on their own, so there's no need to pull it tight. Measure your waist around the narrowest part, usually just above your belly button, and your hip around the fullest part of your hips and seat with your feet together. Adding the Compression Jacket bundle? Measure your bust too, around the fullest part of your chest with the tape level and snug. Then open the size selector, enter your numbers, and you'll get a size straight away.
Find your waist and hip in the chart. Hips lead, so if the two point to different sizes, go with the larger one so nothing pulls too tight. Stuck between two sizes? Size up for more length and an easier hold, or down for a firmer, shorter fit. If you're tall, lean up. If you're petite, lean down. And if your measurements sit outside our range, get in touch and we'll help you find the right fit. These tights are made for ages 9 and up, roughly 130cm tall and over.
These are compression tights, so they are designed to fit much more snugly than traditional ballet tights. A proper fit should take a little effort to pull on, this indicates the compression zones are active and sitting correctly against your muscles. If they are painful or restrict your circulation, you may need a larger size.
We recommend starting with one class (1–1.5 hours) to allow your body to adjust to the sensory feedback and compression. As you get used to the support, you can wear them for full days of training.
We offer a 30-day risk-free trial. You have 30 calendar days from the date of delivery to try the Backalast Turnout Tights. If it's not right for you, you may return it for a full refund or exchange, provided the tags are attached and the garment is unwashed, undamaged, and free of any marks, odours, or signs of wear.
Yes, you have the option to split ship. We can send your tights as soon as they are ready and dispatch the jacket separately when it arrives.
